I’ve been struggling to find the words to write this post all evening because I have so many thoughts and emotions about it all. This session is so incredibly special to me and I am so very proud to share these images with you. I am so grateful and honoured to have been able to capture these moments for Erika. I love that she put her trust in me and had the confidence to embrace her “imperfections” (read: beauty) and help show the world how beautiful and normal a breastfeeding mother is.

Documenting the breastfeeding relationship something I’ve wanted to do since the start of my own breastfeeding journey. The bond between a mother and her nursling is sacred and special and is something to be celebrated. These images are raw and real and beautiful and I hope in some small way they help to end the stigma against breastfeeding.

So here’s to celebrating women’s rights, motherhood, nursing in infancy, nursing into toddlerhood, nursing in public, the stretch marks, the leaking breasts, the dedication of ones body to another human being, the love between a mother and her child.

I honestly think every breastfeeding mother deserves images like these to cherish.
