Happy Thanksgiving !

Happy Thanksgiving !

Happy Thanksgiving all!

This long weekend has been just what the doctor ordered. After Mitch being gone for a week (and traveling most of the rest of the month), we enjoyed some much needed family time together. We baked and decorated cookies, went on a leaf hunt around the yard, went on lots of walks, jumped in leaf piles (trampoline style), ate some yummy food, and made some Halloween crafts that turned out pretty neat! Lucy was pretty into it too. Scroll to end end for instructions on how to make your own.

To make your own toilet paper roll Halloween characters:

  1. Start collecting your toilet paper rolls now! so you have some saved up in time for Halloween (or before, if you want to enjoy them leading up to Halloween).

  2. Plan out some different characters. We did a pumpkin, frankenstein, a ghost, a bat, a black cat, a mummy, a witch and a one eyed monster (some not pictured).

  3. Have your child paint the toilet paper rolls different colours (this was Lucy’s favourite part)

  4. While they are painting cut out shapes with construction paper to decorate each character with. You can also use things like felt, googly eyes, pipe cleaners etc (for the mummy we used ripped up toilet paper and googly eyes)).

  5. Once the rolls have dried, help you child glue on the eyes and other parts for each character. Some things go on better with hot glue (like pipe cleaners etc), so if you need that, do that part yourself.

  6. Enjoy them, play with them, put them on a shelf for decoration.
