Happy 1st Birthday Milo!
Our little happy dude is ONE! It’s hard to fathom how that happened so quickly, and it never gets any less surprising how fast the time passes. I think it’s even more mind boggling the second time around. You barely have time to even think with two children in tow, and the days pass by in an instant.
We had a little “party” to celebrate on the weekend. Some pizza and cupcakes with family. That of which he promptly threw up everywhere. Sugar does not agree with the little man yet…. He’s had a sensitive stomach since birth, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying the heck out of that cupcake (as you’ll see below). The whole family pitched in on a piker triangle and it was a huge hit for our little climber (and our big climber too!).
And, in true birthday tradition fashion here is a letter to my sweet boy on his first birthday!
Milo, Bubba, Mi (my), bud bud, buddy boy,
It’s been a year since you came barreling full tilt into this world with a little bit of scary thrown into the mix. It seems pretty fitting, you’ve been going full tilt ever since with a heavy dose of giving me regular heart attacks with all you get up to. You have no fear!
Watching you grow has been the ultimate joy. You are constantly amazing us with all you can do! And constantly making us laugh with your joyful, silly, happy, mischievous, demeanour. That giggle of yours could cure a thousand tears and turn the most dreadful day into sunshine! Oh and how mischievous you are! You keep me on my toes, always busy, always getting into things you shouldn’t with most devilish little grin. Before you get up to something you look at me “Hey mom, you see what I’m about to do!?'“ and when I head to stop you, you grin and laugh and “run” as fast as your little legs can carry you before I get there!
I have definitely never been more exhausted and sleep deprived in my entire life, but you make every single second worth it.
You love anything with wheels. You’re always pushing your cars and trucks around and making the noises. You love figuring out how things work like making things spin, putting things into baskets and dumping them out, figuring out how things open and close, how to walk your push toy…
You love your sister. You watch everything she does. It is so much fun watching you chase her around and play with her. You love “attacking” her and wrestling with her. She makes you laugh.
You LOVE your Dad and it’s the cutest thing to watch. You hear the trucks coming home for the day and whisper “dada” and head off to the door to meet him wanting up as soon as he walks through the door.
You’re starting to love to read. It’s been tough to get you to sit still enough, you just want to go, go, go. But recently you really love the book “Blue Hat, Green Hat” most and giggle every time the book says “OPPS” Actually, just anything by Sandra Boynton! She just gets you.
You love food! If I’m in the kitchen trying to cook a meal, I’ll be sure to find you screaming at my feet. You can’t wait another SECOND until supper time! You make the cutest “num num num” noises whenever you see something you want to eat, sticking your tongue in and out as you say it.
You love being silly, and trying to rope everyone around you in on the fun.
You love being picked up to get a better look at what’s going on in the world above your head. Especially if its to look out the window at dada’s trucks!
You are a light in this dark world. I cannot wait to spend another year watching you grow into the little boy you are becoming!
I love you beyond words sweet boy! Happy Birthday!
Love Mama
